Sheena Rose
Sheena Rose is a Caribbean visual and performing artist, she lives and works in Barbados.
Since 2017, she is a mentor of the InPulse project, an ongoing programme undertaken by Rubis Mécénat and Rubis Energy Jamaica in the Dunoon Park community in East Kingston, which strives to support Jamaican youth and improve the conditions of young adults from local communities through the practice of visual arts, as a positive means of expression.
As such, she led a workshop with the project in 2017, welcomed an InPulse student for a residency at her studio in Barbados in 2018, and took part in 2019 in the first edition of the InPulse Arts Festival in Kingston with an original performance.
Sheena Rose is a contemporary Caribbean artist who lives and works in Barbados. Sheena is a Fulbright Scholar and holds a BFA Honors degree, Barbados Community College, 2008 as well as a MFA from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, 2016. She has a multi-disciplinary practice: hand drawn animations, drawings, paintings, performance art, and new media.
Sheena Rose has been a participant in the Havana Biennial, Venice Biennial, Gwangju Biennial, Jamaica Biennial, and has exhibited in such art institutions as Perez Art Museum Miami, MoCADA (NYC), Queens Museum (NYC), Turner Contemporary Gallery (UK) and Residency Gallery. She has been the recipient of a number of international artist’s residencies and her work has also been included in a number of Art Fairs, Film Festivals and Auctions such as Prizm Art Fair, Third Horizon Film Festival and Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation Auction – Art for Life.
